Salt Lake City, Utah, March 04, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- SafeWise, the leading resource for all things safety and security, announced today the release of a comprehensive report on American attitudes about safety. Known for its annual “Safest Cities in America” report, which was also released today, SafeWise conducted research of 5,000 Americans to better understand how people feel about their safety. The State of Safety report evaluates people’s attitudes about safety across six categories: Violent Crime, Property Crime, Digital Security, Health and Wellness, Environmental, and Workplace Safety.
Key insights from the State of Safety Report Include:
The State of Safety report also reveals that while the majority of people living in the US are worried about safety, levels of concern are disproportionate to the likelihood that someone will experience dangerous crime.
“When we look at how safe Americans are, versus how much we worry about safety, there is a big gap,” said Rebecca Edwards, Senior Security Writer and Safety Expert. “At SafeWise we believe that safety is a lifestyle, and that by making simple adjustments to how we protect our home and families, we can have a major positive impact on our safety and well-being.”
“If we look at the data presented in the State of Safety report, tons of evidence bears out that people feel really worried and concerned about violent crime, property damage, and even environmental issues, but the actual likelihood of being a victim is radically lower than the degree to which people worry,” said Edwards. “The good news is that there are plenty of solutions available to help people protect themselves. And, they don’t cost an arm and a leg—common sense goes a long way when thinking about how to protect yourself and your family.”
